History Repeats itself with White House Resolution

Posted By shirley on March 4, 2010

The BBC reports that:

A US congressional panel has described the killing of Armenians by Turkish forces during World War I as genocide, despite White House objections.

A similar resolution was approved in 2007 but was shelved by White House pressure during the Bush Administration. I wonder, will Obama follow the Bush path or will he really follow his campaign promise and promote change as well as his promise to recognize the Armenian Genocide?

Serj Tankian from System of a Down seems to think so.  In a YouTube video he urges Pres. Obama to be true to his campaign pledge.  It will be  interesting to see if he does.

I'm a California girl raised by Armenian parents. Because I didn't understand the country and customs that my parents and grandparents came from, I felt awkward and different. Customs collided and barriers were created. Now as I ripen in age I've come back to my roots to rediscover and understand.
